At a glance
- 6,405 job listings in 90 days (6,405 of the 6,412 Tanqeeb reported)
- 97.2% labelled Amman (90.5% without the two boards that label every listing Amman)
- 45.2% come from hotels, and 39.3% from Marriott's brands alone
- But 46.7% are repeats: counting each role once, hotels are 29.7% of distinct roles and Marriott 23%
- 1.5% show a salary, the lowest of the six countries so far; GulfTalent shows one on 2 of 2,682
- IT looks like the biggest category (20.9%), but GulfTalent files 727 hotel jobs (waiters, chefs, cleaners) under IT; without them IT is 9.4%
How the data was collected
Tanqeeb is a job aggregator with a site per country. It shows at most 10,000 results per search, and Jordan had 6,412 listings in the last 90 days, so one search was enough: 321 result pages, none failed. The scraper (an Apify Actor) then removes duplicates by listing ID. That reached 6,405 listings.
Tanqeeb's terms don't prohibit this, its robots.txt allows the pages used, and no personal data was kept: some listing cards include recruiter names, emails or phone numbers, and the scraper skips those fields.
1. Hotels post almost half the listings
Hotels
Counting hotels by company name (Marriott brands, Accor, Hilton, IHG, Rotana and others, or "Hotel" / "Resort" in the name) gives 2,896 listings, 45.2%. Marriott's brands alone (Marriott, St. Regis, Westin, The Ritz-Carlton, The Luxury Collection, Sheraton, W Hotels) posted 2,518, 39.3%. In Qatar, the most hotel-heavy country until now, hotels were 31.7%.
The repeats matter more here than anywhere so far. "F&B Service Expert" was posted 110 times, "Laundry Attendant" 64 times, "Hotel Cleanliness Expert" 57. Counting each title at each company and governorate once, the 2,518 Marriott listings are 784 roles: 23% of distinct roles. All hotels together are 29.7% of distinct roles. Still the biggest employer group by far, but not half the market.
Outside hotels, the top posters are Amentum, a US government contractor (110), and the UN (107, including posts through the UN careers portal).
2. Amman is almost the whole market, partly by label
| Governorate | Listings | Share |
|---|---|---|
| Amman | 6,223 | 97.2% |
| Aqaba | 161 | 2.5% |
| Irbid | 7 | 0.1% |
| Zarqa | 6 | 0.1% |
| Mafraq | 4 | 0.1% |
| Balqa | 1 | 0.0% |
GulfTalent and Bayt label every Jordan listing "Amman", the same habit seen with "Cairo" in Egypt and "Beirut" in Lebanon. Without those two boards, Amman's share is 90.5%, still very high. Almost all Aqaba listings (158 of 161) come from Naukri Gulf.
3. No LinkedIn, and one bulk import
| Board | Listings | Share |
|---|---|---|
| GulfTalent | 2,682 | 41.9% |
| Bayt | 1,817 | 28.4% |
| Naukri Gulf | 1,645 | 25.7% |
| Akhtaboot | 154 | 2.4% |
| Everything else | 107 | 1.7% |
Like Lebanon, Jordan has no LinkedIn listings on Tanqeeb. And GulfTalent's share comes with a caveat: it added 1,764 listings on July 20 and 21, the first two days of the window, against a median of 48 new listings a day. These stay in the totals (they are real listings Tanqeeb shows) but are left out of the weekday averages below. At least 56 GulfTalent listings (about 2% of its total) name an employer or city abroad, such as Hilton Luxor in Egypt and Four Seasons Riyadh, but are labelled "Amman" like everything else on that board.
4. Almost nobody shows a salary
| Board | Listings | With a salary | Share |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bayt | 1,817 | 45 | 2.5% |
| Naukri Gulf | 1,645 | 13 | 0.8% |
| GulfTalent | 2,682 | 2 | 0.1% |
| Akhtaboot | 154 | 0 | 0% |
Only 94 listings (1.5%) include a salary, the lowest of the six countries so far. Among the 59 with a salary in Jordanian dinars, the median advertised midpoint is JOD 800 (mostly monthly; 10% below JOD 325, 10% above JOD 1,750). Placeholder values such as "JOD 1 - 1" or "JOD 0000" are left out; 32 salaries were in US dollars or other currencies. That is far too few listings to say what jobs in Jordan pay.
5. What the jobs look like
| Category | Listings | Share |
|---|---|---|
| Information Technology | 1,339 | 20.9% |
| Administration | 571 | 8.9% |
| Accounting, Finance & Banking | 525 | 8.2% |
| Hospitality & Tourism | 445 | 6.9% |
| Human Resources | 416 | 6.5% |
| Sales | 415 | 6.5% |
| Customer Service | 414 | 6.5% |
| Engineering | 357 | 5.6% |
- 99.5% full-time and 97.2% on-site. Remote or hybrid: 2.8%.
- 99.8% of titles are in English.
- The categories need a warning. 734 of the 1,339 "Information Technology" listings are hotel jobs, 727 of them from GulfTalent: F&B Service Expert (71), Hostess (30), Chef de Partie (29), Hotel Cleanliness Expert (27). Outside hotels, IT is still the biggest category, at 605 listings (9.4% of all listings), ahead of accounting and finance (472).
6. When listings appear
- 33Sun
- 69Mon
- 62Tue
- 52Wed
- 58Thu
- 65Fri
- 14Sat
Jordan's weekend is Friday and Saturday, but Friday still gets 65 new listings on an average day. The reason is the boards' own schedules: Naukri Gulf posts Monday to Friday and never at weekends, while Jordan's own boards (Akhtaboot, Target Jordan) post most on Sunday, the first working day. Saturday is the quietest day (14); Monday the busiest (69).
Jordan next to the first five countries
| Jordan | Lebanon | Qatar | Egypt | UAE | Saudi Arabia | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Window | 90 days | 30 days | 30 days | 30 days | 30 days | 30 days |
| Listings in the window | 6,405 | 2,161 | 7,279 | 20,133 | 21,706 | 17,941 |
| Top city share | Amman 97.2% | Beirut 96.5% | Doha 98.5% | Cairo 74.1% | Dubai 43.0% | Riyadh 35.5% |
| Biggest board | GulfTalent 41.9% | Hirelebanese 47.6% | LinkedIn 55.7% | LinkedIn 44.1% | LinkedIn 35.4% | LinkedIn 40.8% |
| Listings from hotels | 45.2% | 3.0% | 31.7% | 8.5% | 14.6% | 11.7% |
| Listings with a salary | 1.5% | 8.2% | 2.0% | 8.8% | 12.8% | 7.3% |
| Remote or hybrid | 2.8% | 1.1% | 1.1% | 2.6% | 3.5% | 2.8% |
| Repeats | 46.7% | 30.0% | 23.5% | 13.2% | 9.2% | 10.1% |
Shares can be compared across windows; raw counts and repeats cannot. A longer window gives the same role more chances to be posted again, so Jordan's 46.7% repeats is partly the 90 days. The Saudi hotel figure counts brand names only, so it is slightly low.
What this data does not show
- These are listings on one aggregator, not every job in Jordan, and not hires.
- 46.7% look like repeats: the same title, company and governorate posted more than once, mostly hotel roles. Counting each once leaves 3,412 distinct roles.
- GulfTalent's bulk import on July 20-21 (1,764 listings) inflates its share of the window.
- One listing can cover several positions. A missing salary does not mean a job is unpaid.
- Governorate and category are the boards' labels, kept as published; GulfTalent's "IT" label on hotel jobs is the clearest error. Name variants of one company are merged (for example "Marriott International" and "Marriott Hotels & Resorts").
