How the data was collected
Tanqeeb is a job aggregator with a site per country. It shows at most 10,000 results per search, and Lebanon had 2,162 listings in the last 30 days, so one search was enough: 109 result pages, none failed. The scraper (an Apify Actor) then removes duplicates by listing ID. That reached 2,161 listings.
Tanqeeb's terms don't prohibit this, its robots.txt allows the pages used, and no personal data was kept: some listing cards include recruiter names, emails or phone numbers, and the scraper skips those fields. Everything was read from Tanqeeb's own public pages, not from the boards the listings originally came from.
1. A different set of boards
In Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt and Qatar, LinkedIn was the biggest board, with 35 to 56% of the listings. In Lebanon it supplies none. Instead:
| Board | Listings | Share |
|---|---|---|
| Hirelebanese | 1,028 | 47.6% |
| Naukri Gulf | 844 | 39.1% |
| Bayt | 245 | 11.3% |
| Everything else | 44 | 2.0% |
Hirelebanese is a Lebanese recruitment site. Its reach goes further than its own 1,028 listings: Naukri Gulf carries another 208 listings posted as "Client of Hire Lebanese", and 153 of those have a title that also appears on Hirelebanese. A good part of the Naukri Gulf share is the same vacancies, posted a second time.
2. Recruiters post one listing in six
Recruiters and job platforms
The biggest single "employer" is not an employer: "Client of Hire Lebanese" (208 listings) is how Naukri Gulf labels Hire Lebanese posts for companies that stay unnamed. Counting all recruiters and job platforms by company name (Hire Lebanese clients, PrimeTalent, Jobs for Humanity, Expertise Recruitment and others) gives 343 listings, 15.9%. Another 261 listings (12.1%) name no company at all, almost all of them on Hirelebanese.
The largest named employer is the UN (64 listings, counting posts through its careers portal; agencies such as IOM and UNICEF are counted under their own names), then Beautypulse Arabia (54), PrimeTalent (36), Deploya (31), BSO (31) and Tohme Capital (30).
Hotels, the big story in Qatar (31.7%), are only 3.0% of listings here.
3. Beirut is almost the whole market
| Governorate | Listings | Share |
|---|---|---|
| Beirut | 2,086 | 96.5% |
| Mount Lebanon | 29 | 1.3% |
| Beqaa | 26 | 1.2% |
| North Lebanon | 17 | 0.8% |
| South Lebanon | 1 | 0.0% |
Labels are kept as published and grouped by governorate: Zahle is counted in Beqaa, Tripoli in North Lebanon, Saida in South Lebanon. Some employers based just outside the city may list "Beirut".
4. What the salaries say
178 listings (8.2%) include a salary:
| Board | Listings | With a salary | Share |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bayt | 245 | 35 | 14.3% |
| Hirelebanese | 1,028 | 138 | 13.4% |
| Naukri Gulf | 844 | 0 | 0% |
Naukri Gulf shows no salary on any of its 844 Lebanon listings. Of the Hirelebanese listings that do show a salary, 43 appear on Naukri Gulf under the same title and company, without it.
Pay is quoted in US dollars. Among the 123 listings with a monthly dollar figure, the median advertised midpoint is USD 1,000 (10% below USD 550, 10% above USD 1,850). Left out of that median: 12 hourly, daily or per-project rates, 6 salaries with no currency, and 37 Hirelebanese salaries labelled "LBP" with dollar-sized amounts (for example "LBP 800-1000", which in Lebanese pounds would be about one US cent, so these are almost certainly dollars).
123 listings is a small sample, mostly from one site, so this describes the listings, not what jobs in Lebanon pay.
5. What the jobs look like
| Category | Listings | Share |
|---|---|---|
| Sales | 570 | 26.4% |
| Other | 213 | 9.9% |
| Accounting, Finance & Banking | 202 | 9.3% |
| Information Technology | 157 | 7.3% |
| Human Resources | 157 | 7.3% |
| Hospitality & Tourism | 144 | 6.7% |
| Engineering | 131 | 6.1% |
| Legal | 99 | 4.6% |
- 99.1% full-time and 98.8% on-site. Only 1.1% are remote or hybrid.
- Every job title is in English.
- The most common titles: Accountant (58), Sales Representative (38), Senior Accountant (29), Cashier (27), Waiter (22).
6. When listings appear
- 15Sun
- 81Mon
- 88Tue
- 84Wed
- 86Thu
- 98Fri
- 11Sat
Lebanon's weekend is Saturday and Sunday, and almost nothing is posted then: 11 new listings on an average Saturday, 15 on a Sunday. On weekdays it is steady at 81 to 98 a day, with Friday the busiest. The single biggest day was Tuesday, October 13 (158).
Lebanon next to the first four countries
| Lebanon | Qatar | Egypt | UAE | Saudi Arabia | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Listings in 30 days | 2,161 | 7,279 | 20,133 | 21,706 | 17,941 |
| Top city share | Beirut 96.5% | Doha 98.5% | Cairo 74.1% | Dubai 43.0% | Riyadh 35.5% |
| Biggest board | Hirelebanese 47.6% | LinkedIn 55.7% | LinkedIn 44.1% | LinkedIn 35.4% | LinkedIn 40.8% |
| Listings from hotels | 3.0% | 31.7% | 8.5% | 14.6% | 11.7% |
| Listings with a salary | 8.2% | 2.0% | 8.8% | 12.8% | 7.3% |
| Remote or hybrid | 1.1% | 1.1% | 2.6% | 3.5% | 2.8% |
| Repeats | 30.0% | 23.5% | 13.2% | 9.2% | 10.1% |
The Saudi hotel figure counts brand names only, without the "Hotel" / "Resort" words used for the others, so it is slightly low. Lebanon's repeats come mostly from the same vacancy posted on two boards; Qatar's from hotels re-posting the same role.
Lebanon is the smallest market so far, and the only one where a local recruitment site, not LinkedIn, is the main source.
What this data does not show
- These are listings on one aggregator, not every job in Lebanon, and not hires.
- About 30% look like repeats: the same title, company and governorate more than once, often the same vacancy on Hirelebanese and Naukri Gulf. Counting each once leaves 1,512 distinct roles.
- One listing can cover several positions.
- A missing salary does not mean a job is unpaid; the employer just didn't publish it.
- Governorate and category are Tanqeeb's labels. Name variants of one company are merged (for example "Client of hirelebanese" and "Client of Hire Lebanese").
